"sam I am"

WATERCOLORS

The model, Sam, could recite "Sam I Am" by Dr. Seuss and had these wonderous hand gestures to go with it.

The turban was made by Courtney and is called the "Peacock Turban". Original is Watercolor on canvas and was drawn in walnut ink to start.

"caryatid"

DRAWINGS

This is a drawing I did at the Louvre. Greek art history is one of my favorites. I think the Greeks understood the human form as architecture.

Original is done in ink on canvas. Some touches of acrylic.

"an reul crun"

celtic: star crown

PRINTMAKING

The original etching is 10X14" in an edition of 8, hand-pulled by the artist on Kitakata paper. Only 2 available: $1000.

The model, Danielle, has fiery red hair past her waist. The crown is a child's halloween dress up with many enhancements by me. I am part Irish/Scots and often think about my Celtic roots.

"kent ditch"

PHOTOGRAPHS

Photograph of north-south ditch running through my home town of Kentland, Indiana. This ditch is needed to drain the town which was a swamp to start with. Kent Ditch is full of tiger lilies and wild rasberries, strawberries, mushrooms, and asparagus grow all along it for miles. We used to pick the berries for jelly and eat the mushrooms fried. I once found a sick bat and carried it to my Mom, who started screaming "Did it bite you?" -- she was afraid of rabies.

"wodewose"

(celtic: 'woods people')

PAINTING

Original is a large canvas painting. The Wodewose people are part of Celtic myths. My Granny told me stories of 'woods people', fairies, 'corn people', 'little people', goblins and ghosts and strange life forms that lived all around us. I still believe because Granny said so.
